Vanessa Thomson Makes History in MO's North Kansas City Schools

At Chapel Hill Elementary, we surprised second grade teacher Vanessa Thomson with Missouri's "Oscar of Teaching" and $25,000, the first Milken Educator Award ever presented in North Kansas City Schools. Missouri Commissioner of Education Dr. Margie Vandeven joined us for Vanessa's Milken Award assembly. "Teachers don't get enough recognition, so this feels really nice!" said Vanessa to the students, colleagues, veteran Milken Educators and visiting dignitaries who witnessed her life-changing surprise.
