YOUNGSTOWN, NY—Hello, Lewiston-Porter Middle School! New York State Education Commissioner Dr. Betty A. Rosa is here to lead an assembly highlighting Lewiston-Porter Central School District's anti-bullying program. But there's another reason for her visit, which comes to light when Greg Gallagher, senior program director for the Milken Educator Awards, surprises seventh grade science teacher and hometown hero Kimberly Alexander Carlo with a 2023-24 Milken Award and $25,000. Alexander Carlo, who graduated as valedictorian of the Lewiston-Porter High School class of 2011, makes history as the first recipient from the district. Watch the moment she hears her name called.
