Jessica Barnette Makes History in NC

Jessica Barnette's students and colleagues went wild when we surprised her with North Carolina's 2022 Milken Educator Award at Rocky Point Elementary School. North Carolina Superintendent of Public Instruction Catherine Truitt joined us to celebrate Jessica, the first ever recipient of a $25,000 Milken Award in Pender County Schools. "I teach because educators really shaped the person I am today," said the K-1 teacher after the assembly. "If I can do that for one kid, it will all be worth it."
