It's a big day at Vestavia Hills Elementary: Alabama State Superintendent of Education Dr. Eric G. Mackey is visiting to celebrate the school's test scores and cheer its focus on whole-child education as a "Leader in Me" school. But then Mackey introduces an unexpected guest with a big surprise for one Vestavia Hills teacher. Watch as Lowell Milken, chairman and co-founder of the Milken Family Foundation, names fifth-grade teacher Heather Hurt the winner of Alabama's 2018-19 Milken Educator Award and $25,000.
