Hawai'i Teacher Rory Inouye Receives a Milken Award in Hilo

HILO, HI—One teacher at Waiakea High School (WHS) is about to get the surprise of a lifetime! Watch as special guest Lowell Milken, founder of the Milken Educator Awards, surprises math teacher and hometown hero Rory Inouye with a $25,000 Hawai'i Milken Award, making it a day Hilo will remember forever. Students and colleagues can't wait to celebrate the beloved educator, who is a Waiakea graduate and even coached the same baseball team he played on during his time at WHS. Lt. Governor Sylvia Luke and Superintendent of Education Keith Hayashi joined Lowell Milken to honor Inouye's contributions to excellence in education.
