Katelyn Gorder's Incredible Surprise in Grafton, North Dakota

January 16, 2024, was a day family and consumer sciences teacher Katelyn Gorder will never forget! We surprised her with North Dakota's sole 2023-24 "Oscar of Teaching" at an exciting assembly at Grafton High School, with help from North Dakota State School Superintendent Kirsten Baesler. "I teach because it's important," Katelyn says. "And I teach because I care about others." An advocate for preparing each of her students for college, career and life, Katelyn assists with GHS career exploration events and started a new education course to prepare and empower students who are interested in pursuing teaching careers.
