Award Notification:  Melonee Ginn Mattie (SC '14)

Melonee Ginn of Hampton, South Carolina, Earns $25,000 Milken Award

Fifth-grade teacher Melonee Ginn of Hampton Elementary School got the shock of her life when she was presented with a $25,000 Milken Educator Award at an all-school assembly. Dr. Gary Stark, CEO of the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching and a 2001 Milken Educator from Arkansas, as well as Dr. Mick Zais, state superintendent of education, announced the news to thunderous applause.  Bonnie J. Wilson, principal of Hampton Elementary and a recipient of the Milken award in 2008, had some of her own advice to share.  Watch the video to see how this special day unfolded.
