Fourth-Grade Math, Science Teacher Tiffany Lachenmayr Is North Carolina’s Milken Educator for 2012

It was no ordinary day for Tiffany Lachenmayr, who was surprised with a $25,000 Milken Educator Award during an all-school assembly at Timber Drive Elementary School in Garner, North Carolina. Joining in the special celebration were State Superintendent of Public Instruction Dr. June Atkinson, Milken Educator Awards Senior Vice President Dr. Jane Foley and Timber Drive Principal Kendra Culberson. Tiffany is devoted to tracking her students’ progress throughout the year so she can monitor student mastery and adjust her strategies as needed. Tiffany’s hard work pays off: Timber Drive Elementary fourth-graders are exceeding state averages for academic achievement. Whom does Tiffany thank in her acceptance speech?
