NJ Teacher Patrick O’Neill Gets the Surprise of His Life: a $25,000 Milken Educator Award
He's a "SMART" choice! Fourth-grade teacher and tech guru Patrick O’Neill got the surprise of a lifetime when he was presented with a 2012 Milken Educator Award during an all-school assembly at Ocean Township Elementary School in Oakhurst, New Jersey. New Jersey Commissioner of Education Christopher Cerf and Milken Educator Awards Senior Vice President Dr. Jane Foley joined in the celebration. Among his many achievements, Patrick's students' science and math scores have been on the rise since 2007, and their gains are among the highest in the district. "This is a tremendous honor," Patrick said, moved to tears. "My parents are both educators; it’s a great life."
