Brown International Academy
Art Teacher Barth Quenzer of Denver, CO, "Draws" the $25,000 Milken Educator Award
Watch art teacher Barth Quenzer react with utter shock as he learns that the real reason everyone was gathered for a whole-school assembly at Brown International Academy in Denver, Colorado, was to present him with a 2012 Milken Educator Award. Barth is Colorado’s only recipient of the Award this year, which comes with an unrestricted $25,000 cash prize. State Education Commissioner Robert K. Hammond made a special visit to the school in Barth's honor, and Milken Educator Award Senior Vice President Dr. Jane Foley made the announcement everyone was waiting for. After facing camera bulbs akin to a movie premiere, Barth walked up to the front of the auditorium to accept the prestigious honor. "Brown is an incredible school and the teachers are doing incredible things," he said. "I'm so happy to be here."
