Roger King Named WI 2015-16 Teacher of the Year

Roger King (WI '99) is Wisconsin's 2015-16 Teacher of the Year.
King, who focuses on agriscience and is a leader in the Farm to School movement, had previously been named Wisconsin’s High School Teacher of the Year in a surprise ceremony at his school in September 2015. One of his innovations: moving the greenhouse operation at Holmen High School in Madison to hydroponics, enabling students to grow lettuce year-round. The school’s greenhouse also supplies the Farm to School program with broiler chickens, potatoes, and sweet corn for the school lunch program. Special needs students plant and harvest lettuce in the greenhouse; those in occupational training classes help with stocking the FFA concession stand and handling the cash box.
