Brian Allman (WV '19) Named State History Teacher of the Year

Brian Allman (WV '19), a social studies teacher at Buckhannon-Upshur High School in Buckhannon, has been named West Virginia's History Teacher of the Year by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.

According to the Gilder Lehrman Institute, recipients show a demonstrated commitment to teaching American history; evidence of creativity and imagination in the classroom; and effective use of documents, artifacts, historic sites, oral histories, and other primary sources to engage students with American history. State winners receive a $1,000 prize, an archive of classroom resources, and recognition at a ceremony in their state.
