Brian Cox (WY '19) Named AWSA Wisconsin High School Principal of the Year

Brian Cox (WY ‘19) was named the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators (AWSA) Wisconsin High School Principal of the Year on Friday, April 11, 2025, during a surprise announcement from AWSA – a state affiliate of NASSP – at Verona Area High School. He will represent the community and greater Wisconsin throughout the year at various events, including a trip to Washington, D.C., to be honored along with Principals of the Year from across the U.S. According to an AWSA press release, Dr. Cox is known for transparency, servant leadership and a commitment to equity. He has made a positive impact at Verona Area High School through developing systems that support all learners. He has established advisory councils and transformed leadership teams into collaborative, data-driven units focused on growth. Cox’s advocacy extends beyond the building, as he has become a national voice for education policy through his work with NASSP and advocacy efforts at the federal level, according to AWSA.
