"At the beginning of each year I give [parents] my cell phone number and use this as a main form of daily communication. I've never had a parent be disrespectful or misuse my personal phone number, and I think it's important to let them know that I trust them as my partner in helping their child through this year of life. My parents and I are very open and honest with each other, and it helps their children tremendously."
