Melanie Alfaro Joins NM Milken Educators

Math teacher Melanie Alfaro smiles as she and Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, listen to the assembly's long, loud ovation for her surprise Milken Educator Award. With Alfaro as head the math department, Deming has jumped two letter grades and 16 percentage points in end-of-year math assessments in the past few years. Alfaro’s students lead the sixth grade in math proficiency.
