Melanie Alfaro Joins NM Milken Educators

Deming Intermediate cheerleaders lead a rousing ovation for math teacher Melanie Alfaro at her surprise Milken Educator Award notification, with Milken Educator Awards Senior Vice President Dr. Jane Foley and New Mexico Secretary of Education Christopher Ruszkowski joining in. It's not the first time Alfaro has had cheerleaders rooting her on: She is an accomplished athlete who played Division I basketball at New Mexico State University and was inducted into its Hall of Fame in 2014.
