Students and staff at Brick Township Memorial High School are gathered in the gym to hear New Jersey Department of Education Commissioner Kimberley Harrington talk about one of the school's favorite subjects: college and career readiness. But is that the only reason Harrington is visiting? When Harrington introduces Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, who surprises chemistry teacher Maria DeBruin with a 2017-18 New Jersey Milken Educator Award and $25,000, it quickly becomes clear this is one assembly DeBruin will never forget.
