The Academic Academy at Wallace Middle is part of Connecticut Commissioner of Education Charlene Russell-Tucker's Commissioner's Network, a state-level turnaround effort. She praises the school for its recent accomplishments, increasing performance on eight of 13 indicators, including leadership effectiveness, student engagement, assessment, and family and community engagement. Then, to everyone's surprise, she introduces an unexpected guest — someone who has traveled from the West Coast to share a big secret. What could it be?
