Christine Bayard Joins LA Milken Educators

Everyone at Johnston-Hopkins Elementary is buzzing about an all-school assembly. What brings so many special guests to New Iberia today? The reason for the assembly becomes clear when Lowell Milken, founder of the Milken Educator Awards, surprises sixth grade math and mentor teacher Christine Bayard with a 2023-24 Milken Award and $25,000. Louisiana Superintendent of Education Dr. Cade Brumley joined Lowell Milken to honor Bayard’s excellence in education in front of hundreds of cheering students, proud colleagues, dignitaries and media. She is the 2,973rd Milken Educator to join the Network on the exciting path to the announcement of the 3,000th Milken Educator.
