CA's Alexis Arias Recognized with 2023-24 Milken Award

 

English and senior studies teacher Alexis Arias gives Milken Educator Awards Founder Lowell Milken a tour of her classroom after her surprise Milken Award assembly. Arias employs innovative, engaging teaching methods, primarily through small group instruction, to help her students – including English language learners – master their assignments. Students who previously believed post-secondary education was not in reach leave her class with the tools and support to obtain their diplomas and dream big. She uses a live tracker in the classroom to monitor academic progress in real-time and organizes field trips to local colleges to show a pathway to higher education.
