Math Teacher Angela Boxie, You're an LA Milken Educator!

Wiping tears from her eyes, math teacher Angela Boxie makes her way to the front of the assembly to accept her Milken Educator Award. Boxie is nurturing a new generation of math lovers at Edgar Martin. Her sixth-graders' math scores typically exceed district averages by 24 percent and the state's by 32 percent. In 2015, Boxie was just one of only 17 teachers who qualified for the Louisiana Department of Education’s Elementary Mathematics Specialist certification.
