Before telling the crowd more about the Milken Educator Award, Mike Milken, co-founder of the Milken Family Foundation, calls three veteran Milken Scholars to the microphone to share their backgrounds and inspire the students at Glen Cove High School. From left, Mike Milken; Kim Foo Chow (NY '96), who went on to Cornell University and whose parents hail from Burma; Vanessa Melendez (NY '95), a Harvard graduate of Puerto Rican descent; and Marshall Benitez (NY '89), who graduated from Bowdoin College and whose family comes from Ecuador.
