A visual arts teacher at Shasta High School in Shasta County, Ed Howland developed an Advanced Placement program for visual arts at Shasta High School that became a model on the West Coast. Eager to share his knowledge and ideas, in 1983 he organized the Northern California Art Teachers, an association that has an important influence on the implementation of the visual and performing arts model curriculum in Northern California.Â
