"I have the opportunity to create dreams for my students and to nurture these dreams until they become reality," says Cynthia Frazier, principal of George Washington Elementary School in Eleanor. Mrs. Frazier is profoundly grateful for the encouragement shown her by her late father, whose own eighth grade education only served to fuel the "dream that his children complete college." Bringing her family legacy to the classroom, Mrs. Frazier says, "I capitalize on opportunities that create an environment which allows ALL my students to succeed." Mrs. Frazier warns that in an ever-changing society teachers must not become complacent and comfortable, and she emphasizes the importance for teacher training programs to implement an awareness of the need for "on-going renewal." She alerts future teachers to the fact that a successful career in education must be accompanied by a willingness to explore and embrace change.
