Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, tells the assembly that the Award-winning teacher will receive both national recognition and a cash prize. How much? Students hold up cards spelling out the amount of the cash prize. When the final zero appears, bringing the total to $25,000, the crowded gym erupts in cheers and applause.
