Teacher Mary Travis Joins AL Milken Educators

 

Mary Travis continues teaching, performing a song with students that explains the eight mathematical concepts. Travis is sparking curiosity and inspiring future leaders at Gilliard Elementary School! As a dynamic fifth grade math and science teacher, she brings learning to life with hands-on projects like the "Volume City Project" where students design their own businesses and merge their constructions into a cohesive city, and interactive math "breakouts" where students in one class develop secret codes for another class to crack. Beyond the classroom, Mary mentors new educators, shares her expertise district-wide, and fosters lasting connections with her students and their families—becoming a true role model and champion of education.
