Shanahan Middle School is buzzing for an extra-special assembly today. Jessica Voltolini, interim director of the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, is here to speak to students and staff, along with a group of visiting dignitaries. But there's another reason to celebrate—Greg Gallagher, senior program director for the Milken Educator Awards, is here to surprise eighth grade math teacher Marissa McCarthy with the first $25,000 Milken Educator Award in Olentangy Local School District! After today's exciting celebration, McCarthy is the 2,957th Milken Educator recognized on the journey to our 3,000th Milken Award announcement.
