Missouri Milken Educators Welcome Leah Lawrence

 

Back in the classroom, Leah Lawrence talks with students about the day's momentous events. The teacher has crafted a welcoming environment, building students’ confidence and inspiring them to rise to her high expectations. "I model that it's okay to make mistakes," she told us after the assembly. "We keep track of our progress and always shoot to be better." She applies this philosophy to her work mentoring new teachers as a member of the district's professional development committee. "I have to be able to model that I'm learning and growing too, just as they are as a new teacher," she notes.
