John Lary Wins Louisiana Milken Educator Award

 

 

Milken Family Foundation Chairman and Co-Founder Lowell Milken congratulates a seemingly stunned Lary on his Milken Educator Award. Milken created this Award as a counterbalance to the high-profile awards that permeate sports and entertainment, with the goal of encouraging young people to consider careers in education. "I believe that greatness in education should be recognized, too," he tells the assembled crowd at C.E. Byrd High School. "Only if we elevate the teaching profession can we expect talented young people to choose the adventure of teaching."
