Florida Education Commissioner Pam Stewart praises Emma Love Hardee's students and staff for their outstanding achievement. She tells the assembly that Florida used to be at the bottom in student performance; now the state is fourth in the nation. "Your teachers work very hard to make sure that we get where we are today," she says. Nassau County, she adds, is one of the top districts in the state in closing the achievement gap.

Then, unexpectedly, the commissioner calls up a special guest who has come all the way from California to share an important secret.
