Milken Educator Award recipient Emily Caldarelli talks with Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, at her surprise Award notification. Caldarelli incorporates project-based learning into her fourth-grade curriculum: A project on the branches of government, for example, required students to build something, write a research paper, and present their research to the class.
