Science Star Dan Adler Wins MA Milken Award

Surrounded by cameras and microphones, Milken Educator Award recipient Dan Adler talks with reporters after his surprise notification. Adler has had a powerful influence on UP Academy Leonard's science curriculum, pushing the entire science department to adopt “argumentation” as a focus in writing and regularly collaborating with seventh- and eighth-grade science teachers. He was instrumental in helping the school win a national grant to update its science lab facilities. An alumnus of Teach For America and a Teach Plus Policy Fellow, Dan is no stranger to making his voice heard in education.
