Master Teacher Amber Simpson Wins TX Milken Award

Texas Governor Greg Abbott (right) and Education Commissioner Mike Morath congratulate master teacher Amber Simpson on her surprise Milken Educator Award. Due in part to Barrera Elementary's effort with the instructional model of TAP: The System for Teacher and Student Advancement, the school has received the highest state accountability rating of Met Standard. Equally important, students are achieving more than a year's worth of value-added growth as compared to similar schools throughout the state.
