Bronx's Aja Brown Wins NY Milken Award

 

 

Dr. Jane Foley, senior vice president of the Milken Educator Awards, tells the students, staff and guests at Metrosound that she has traveled 3,000 miles to be here today. "We've heard about you, all the way in California," she says. "Now you know people are watching—so keep up the good work." She goes on to explain that research shows that the single biggest in-school factor in student achievement is the quality of the teacher in the classroom: "Outstanding educators are the backbone of every good school."
