First Grade Teacher Amanda Fair-Coles Wins SC Milken Award

 

 

Amanda Fair-Coles gives Dr. Joshua Barnett, chief executive officer for the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET), a tour of her first grade classroom. Fair-Coles has a “looped” classroom, in which her kindergarten students last year continued with her in first grade. She is known for planning lessons from the student lens and using engaging personalized learning strategies that keep her first graders excited to learn.
