Knoxville's Paula Franklin Wins TN Milken Award

 

 

Tennessee Education Commissioner Dr. Candice McQueen congratulates the students, teachers and administrators of West High, a Level 5 school, on their hard work and exemplary growth. In roundtable discussions with students all around Tennessee, McQueen says, she learned that every student has a dream or goal—and that achieving those dreams and goals was only possible when teachers were there to support them. She also says that students who are involved in extracurricular groups actually perform better in class. "Be engaged, be involved," she counsels the students.

Then, to everyone's surprise, McQueen introduces an unexpected guest. Why has this dignitary come to Knoxville all the way from California?
