Third-grade teacher Jennie Schmaltz pauses to absorb what she just heard: Lowell Milken, chairman and co-founder of the Milken Family Foundation, has named her the winner of a 2016-17 Milken Educator Award for Colorado, along with a $25,000 cash prize.
