English teacher Gina Benz's smile lights up Roosevelt High School after South Dakota Secretary of Education Dr. Melody Schopp and Milken Educator Awards Senior Vice President Dr. Jane Foley present her with South Dakota's 2015-16 Milken Educator Award. Benz grew up in rural South Dakota with limited educational opportunities, but teaching is in her blood: Her grandmother taught in a one-room schoolhouse on the South Dakota prairie.
