Gonzalez says a a few words after accepting his award from Lowell Milken (pictured left). Addressing his students, he said, “I am so shocked. Seven years ago, it was hard starting out for me as a teacher. Honestly, one of the reasons I stayed is that I really believe in all of you.” He started to tear up. “Even when I am hard on you, you should know that.”
