Math teacher Yoosuf S. Siddiqui promotes a love of learning in his students at Maine School for Science and Math (MSSM), a public, residential charter school in Limestone. His calculator programming projects generate a high level of enthusiasm among students as they work in small groups to find innovative solutions. He has designed and conducted workshops for fellow teachers on the use of calculator programming in their classrooms. Mr. Siddiqui's effective instruction has helped his pupils achieve excellent scores on Advanced Placement tests. He was instrumental in creating the boys' camp component of MSSM's Summer Camps program for middle school students from around the state who are interested in math, science and technology. He also helped form the MSSM Youth Group, a non-denominational group of students that meets weekly at his home for dinner and discussion.
