To provide an expanded support system for all students at Russellville High School in Russellville, principal Wesley White created TEAMS (Teachers as Educators and Mentors for Students), a career planning advisory program that has resulted in higher attendance and improved decision-making skills. Mr. White initiated the Renaissance program to reward student and teacher achievement, and implemented a Community Scholarship Program, which raises thousands of dollars in college tuition assistance for deserving students. An alternative school he created has resulted in improved achievement for Russellville's at-risk students. In addition to working with local universities in mentoring new teachers, Mr. White promotes teacher leadership through his affiliation with the Arkansas Leadership Academy.
