Wayne Strand serves as principal of two elementary schools in Tioga-Tioga Public and Central Elementary Schools-yet he still finds the time to teach elementary-level physical education and junior-high-level driver's education. Each year, Mr. Strand engages his students in the local Math Meet, a competitive event for the area's third- through sixth-grade students, in which six students compete in five different types of math tests. In his "Reading to the Seniors" program, students visit and read to senior citizens at a local nursing home. An active community leader, Mr. Strand is also involved in state and local professional groups, including the Consortium Curriculum Council and the State Education Credential Committee.
