As principal of Polytechnic Senior High School in Long Beach, Wayne Piercy has been an energetic and influential educator for over 35 years. By focusing on student accomplishments, Mr. Piercy has both boosted his students' academic achievement and set the tone for positive cross-cultural relationships at this ethnically diverse school. Under his leadership, Polytechnic twice received the California Distinguished School Award and has been further honored with the Sustained Achievement Award. Mr. Piercy has worked closely with his staff to develop the current curriculum, which includes two highly challenging magnet programs. Off campus, Mr. Piercy serves as Mayor of Lakewood and recently has assumed the position of District Director of Legislative Services.
