Elementary teacher Margaret Beaulier's students at Drowne Road School in Cumberland are not the only ones who benefit from her instruction - the community benefits as well. Two years ago her students transformed the top floor of the Children's Museum in Portland into a rain forest, displaying what they learned about deforestation to the museum's visitors. And last year Ms. Beaulier's students created and sold informational calendars about the North Yarmouth Town Forest, using the money to sponsor forest projects for four other classes and to buy forestry-related books for the school. An advocate of learning technology, Ms. Beaulier has taught her students to use computers in developing multimedia presentations and conducting research.
