Trang Vuong is an independent education consultant. Previously, she served as a college counselor for All Saints Episcopal School and Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler. Also in Tyler at Ramey Elementary School, she worked with a large percentage of economically disadvantaged children living in at-risk situations. Vuong planned, implemented and evaluated a comprehensive guidance program for students in grades K-5, and was the driving force behind the district's Safe and Drug-Free Schools Initiative. She also organized the district's Red Ribbon Day, a week-long series of drug awareness activities that included essay contests and activities to promote self-confidence. Vuong is a member of the Independent Education Consultants Association, Texas Counseling Association, the National Association for College Admission Counseling. Vuong is a native of South Vietnam whose family escaped enemy soldiers by boat and settled in Louisiana. ‘I have tried to build meaningful relationships with children,” she said. “I try to lend an ear and often times that’s all a child needs.”
