Tom Stone is a mathematics teacher at Sheldon High School in Eugene. He has facilitated peer coaching opportunities for the entire Sheldon staff and helped improve instruction in all content areas. As a result of writing, receiving, and successfully implementing several grants, Mr. Stone is very much in demand for his expertise in staff development. He has been a leader in sharing skills in cooperative learning, learning styles and other teaching strategies. He is an active member of the Oregon Council of Teachers of Mathematics. In 1991, he received the Oregon Secondary Mathematics Teacher of the Year Award from the Electronics Association of America and the state's Presidential Award for Excellence, and was a finalist for the national Presidential Award for Excellence.
