Tom Tusken has worked for the Duluth Public Schools since 1995. During that time he has spent the majority of it as a social studies teacher at Denfeld High School. In addition to teaching, Tom has served as the 9th Grade BARR Coordinator, Dean of Students and Assistant Principal. He has led and contributed to numerous efforts at school wide improvement including implementation of Link Crew, the 9th Grade BARR, PBIS, the SOAR Academy for at risk freshmen, and the Freshman Seminar course. He also lead the 10th Grade PLC, coordinated Link Crew and served as a PBIS coach and team member. Currently, Tom serves as the Principal of Denfeld High School. His priority is increasing student achievement and the graduation rate. His focus is on the continuous improvement process to support the full implementation and success of BARR, PBIS, Check and Connect, PLCs and co-teaching.
