Currently teaching first grade at Woodbine Elementary School in Camden County, Teresa (Gallman) Sawyer has taught children from Alaska to Georgia. She has a master's degree in remedial reading, and a life-long love of the nature and process of art. In 1990 Ms. (Gallman) Sawyer was one of two Georgia teachers to be awarded the Christa McAuliffe Fellowship, which she is using to fund visits to the school by various artists, including a story-teller and a musical instrument maker. These visits, open to all grades at Woodbine and to members of the community, are part of the "bag of tricks" which Ms. (Gallman) Sawyer believes every teacher must reach into every day.
