First-grade teacher Tammy Payton has created an award-winning Web site at Loogootee West Elementary School in Loogootee that takes full advantage of the medium's educational potential. A section of the Web site devoted to Mrs. Payton's unit on Abraham Lincoln includes an interactive Web quiz written by her students, a Lincoln picture gallery and links to other resources. "E-Mail Around the World," a Web project she developed, is an e-mail list of schools around the world, complete with e-mail addresses, maps, frequently asked questions and a participant message board. Mrs. Payton has written articles for educational publications and conducted workshops on integrating the Internet into the classroom curriculum.
