Tamara Redmond is a first grade teacher at Plain City Elementary School in Plain City. Because one of her lifetime goals is to be a workshop presenter, without leaving the classroom on a permanent basis, Mrs. Redmond has offered scores of in-service programs and workshops both at the school and district level. She is currently involved in instructing other teachers on the practice and advantages of "Student-Led Conferences," a program that combines "authentic assessment, individualized education, thematic units, math strategies and materials and parent interest." The program has also enhanced student intellectual independence, self-esteem and success through team effort. As a curriculum developer, Mrs. Redmond has piloted another program that integrates language arts across the curriculum, developed a first grade spelling curriculum and implemented a reading program that emphasizes children's literature.
